Handing Over Ceremony of Permanent Houses at Alvai- 25.08.2009

HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna, have constructed 75 houses with toilet facility for the tsunami victims at Alvai in Point Pedro divisional secretariat has provided 60 families out of the 75 with a house and land free of charge and have handed over them to the beneficiaries.  The families who are affected by Tsunami, under the poverty line are relieved of poverty and their humanitarian right to live is ensured.  Sixty three million Rupees were spent for these 75 houses. 

The handing over ceremony of the 75 houses for the Tsunami victims was held on the 25^th of August 2009 at Sakkoddai, Thickam and Alvai. The ceremony was presided by Rev.Fr.C.G.Jeyakumar, the director of HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna. Rt.Rev.Dr.Thomas Soundaranayagam, the Bishop of Jaffna honored as chief guest.  Rev.Fr.Pathinathar, the parish priest of Sakkoddai and Prammasiri S.Vaithiyanatha Kurukal, the chief priest of Kanthavanam Thevasthanam, Polikandy gave the blessing for the ceremony. Mr.M.S.Saravanabava, the Municipal Commissioner of Jaffna, Mrs.Usha Subalingam, the Assistant Divisional Secretary of Point Pedro, Mrs.Gnaneswaran, the director of CARE Jaffna and Mr.Jude, the Director of ZOA, Jaffna honored as guests of honor.
