Fibber glass fishing boats were given to tsunami affected fishermen in the Mullaitivu district.  Several fishermen societies are jointly functioning under Mullaitivu Fishermen Union. Among these societies 50 fishermen from 11 societies were given fishing boats. The handing over ceremony took place on 4^th June 2005. Rev.Fr.Peter Asst. Director Caritas Jaffna - HUDEC presided the meeting.  The Vanni Parilimentarian Kanagaratnam MP, Rev.Fr.Jeyakumar - Director Caritas Jaffna - HUDEC, Ms.Marie - Caritas France, Mr.Dominic - Caritas France, Dr.Darmentra - Mullaitivu District Hospital, Rev.Fr.James Pathinathar, Rev.Fr.Thvesahayam and Rev.Fr.Jude Amalathas were present and handed over the boats and documents to the beneficiaries.   The out boat motor engines and sets of fishing gears also will be given very soon. 

Another 150 fishing boats, out boat motor engines and sets of fishing gears also will be distributed within the next month to the Mullaitivu fishermen.  The distribution of fishing boats enabled the fishermen to start their livelihood.
