IDPs
1. Provision of 1459 food utensils to children at temporary camp schools
Under the children’s project of HUDEC-CARITAS, 1,450 food utensils have been provided to the children studying at the temporary schools at Kaithady and Eluthumattuvaal at a cost of Rs.51, 769.The coordinator of the Children’s project had given them to the respective school principals.
2. School for children at temporary camps
HUDEC-CARITAS is to construct a primary school of 4 sections for the temporary school at Ramavil, Kodikamam at a cost of Rs.500,000.
3. Provision of 122 school books to temporary schools
122 school books of Rs.29,000 worth have been provided to the principal of the temporary school functioning at Kodikamam.

4. Installation of computer training centres
There are computer training centres to be installed in the Divisional secretariats of Chankanai, Sandilipay and Tellipalai at a cost of Rs.2,100,000 by HUDEC-CARITAS. It has been organized by the team of Tsunami livelihood project of HUDEC-CARITAS.
5. Vocational Training Centres
There are Vocational courses to be conducted by HUDEC-CARITAS in Tellipalai divisional secretariat at a cost of Rs.1,100,000. The courses such as mobile phone repairing, motor vehicle repairing, refrigerator repairing and printing on clothes are to be conducted.

6. Construction of lavatories
New lavatories have been constructed and provided to the people under the poverty line according to the request by the respective Divisional Secretariats. As a result, there are five families and one family benefited in Gurunagar area and Ilavalai area respectively.Each lavatory costs Rs.65,000.
Fishing nets distribution
HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna has provided 546 members of Jaffna Fishermen Co-operative Society with fishing equipment (fishing nets, nylone robes, threads) at a cost of Rs.9.55 millions.353 members of Gurunagar Fishermen Co-operative Society were provided with Rs.20,000’s worth of fishing nets per head. In total, they were provided with Rs.7060,000’s worth of equipment.
193 members of Paasaiyoor Fishermen Co-operative Society were provided with Rs.15,000’s worth of fishing equipment per head. In total, they were provided with Rs.2895,000’s worth of equipment.
Appointment of the New Director
Rev.Fr.Guymar Felix Canisius Raj has been appointed as the new Director of the Vavuniya branch of HUDEC-CARITAS by Most Rev.Dr.Thomas Soundaranayagam, Bishop of Jaffna.It is important to note that previously Fr.Vasanthaseelan had carried out this service with dedication and determination for the people of Vanni amidst lots of displacements and shellings.Painfully, He lost his left leg due to the shellings of the final battles in Vanni.
