The security forces have agreed to release the 60 Lorries and hand over to the owners. These lorries were left behind at the Muhamalai check point on the 11th of August 2006.
The Govt. Agent Jaffna has arranged to pay the salaries of the govt. officers who are working in the other districts and stranded here without travelling facilities.
FOOD, NON-FOOD ITEM
The Commissioner General of Essential Services has informed that three ships laden with essential food items would be sent to Jaffna within this month.
Consequent to the arrival of ships with food items the essential food items which went underground had come out to the open and traders are issuing these items on a rationed basis on the production of the family card.
The Govt. Agent has informed that all the bakeries have been issued with the necessary requirement of flour for the production of bread only.
Long queues could be seen in front of the shops, MPCS (Multi Purpose Co-operative Societies) and bakeries to purchase food items and bread. Few fresh vegetables are available now in the market due to cultivation season.

TRAVEL
1,800 persons from Jaffna are stranded in Vavuniya and have requested the Govt. Agent Vavuniya to arrange them travelling facilities to return home.
150 patients from Kilinochchi who were warded for treatment at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital are stranded and staying in the hospital as they are unable to proceed to their homes.

Schools are not functioning due to boycott, etc.

KILLINGS
Ramalingam Panchadcharam (55) of Kanthermadam was shot dead by unknown persons on the 10th.
An employee of the hospital canteen by the name of Raj (22) was shot dead by unknown persons within the Jaffna hospital premises.
Sinnathamby Mahendran (52) a trader of Navaly was shot dead by unknown persons on the 10th.
Sathasivam Sathayaseelan (37) Jeweller of Temple road was shot dead by unknown persons on the 9th.
Rajaenthram Rajamayil (26) mason of Pandianthalvu was shot dead by unknown persons on the 9th.
Nadarajah Jegatheeswaran (37) of Colombo was shot near the office of the Human rights Commission office in Jaffna by unknown armed men while he was returning after registering his name for travel to Colombo on the 9th.
A body was found with gun shot injuries at Vathrawathai on the 10th. This was identified as the body of Ariyaratnam Sylvester (32) a land-master owner of Kanthermadam.
The body found in Vaddukoddai-moolai area with gun-shot injuries is reported to be that of Sivalingam Chandrakumar (23) who was kidnapped in Chankanai on the 9th by an armed gang which arrived by a white van.
CURFEW LIFTED HOURS:
Curfew has been lifted from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Valigamam, Island and Vadamaradchy divisions. In Thenmarachy division curfew is not relaxed today 11th Sep’06.
