Fishing nets were distributed to the tsunami affected fishermen at Mareesankoodal – Illavalai by Caritas Jaffna – HUDEC on 16^th June 2005.  89 Fishermen were selected from the Mareesankoodal fishermen society as beneficiaries.  They were given 4 pieces of fishing nets to re-start their activities.  Rev.Fr.Francis – parish priest of Mareesankoodal parish precided the handing over ceremony.  Rev.Fr.C.G.Jeyakumar – Director Caritas Jaffna – HUDEC handed over the fishing nets to the beneficiaries.
