COMMEMORATING THE COMPLETION OF SIX MONTHS AFTER TSUNAMI DISASTER

The commemoration ceremony was held at SEDEC – Caritas Sri Lanka, Colombo at the completion of six months of Tsunami disaster on the 26th June.

It is in deed hard to forget our 40,000 brothers and sisters who had been snatched away by the tidal waves on 26th Dec.2004. In order to remember them 40,000 Candles were lit in all Dioceses on 26^th June 2005.

Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim religious leaders were present on this occasion and the title of the occasion was “Neither Tsunami or War can Separate the Human Bond and Love”.

As a mark of the service of Caritas to the Tsunami victims 40 children from all the Tsunami affected districts participated in this ceremony and Rs.5,000/- deposited for each children.

The ceremony was inaugurated with the lighting of 2,500 candles at SEDEC.
